An easy read, it's a story of Amy & Lan growing up in a small commune (I remember the idea being trendy in the late 60s & 70s). I grew up on a smallholding with various animals & the dilemma of whether it's ok to eat animals who feel like pets! The most interesting bit was the kid's uneasiness about the relationships between the adults & how it affected their friendship.
