1990 Pocket Books paperback tale of savage old New Mexico, in which our noble heroine daughter of the war-ruined South is sold in marriage to a ruthless Western rancher, while she falls for a hired gunman who aims to reclaim his ranch. I found this copy a couple days ago in the Grove Little Free Library in Castro Valley.
I can let this go after I read:
1984 Come Lie With Me [read 2014]
1985 Sarah's Child [read 2015]
1986 Almost Forever [read 2015]
Edit May 8, 2024: This was good, but I just skimmed to end for time. it runs a bit long. I currently have this ranked at #3693 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
