Swapped with books in a nearby street library. Set innEstonia, so possibly a good read for the 666 challenge and release when I visit Estonia next year.
I started this before leaving home and have just now completed it, about 10 days later. A very interesting view of Estonia through the eyes of young Kati carrying on the lace weaving traditions of her beloved grandmother as we experienced the occupation of Estonia first by Russia and then Germany during the Second World War.
A love story of her country, her family and friends in the knitting circle and her beloved Oskar.
Quite complex with the complications involved with friend Etti who had her new born Jewish daughter to protect, as well as Lydua, of Russian and Estonian parentage.
Very moving, and at the end as they were experiencing the snow I related strongly to it, as I have been experiencing the snow in Tallinn too.

Left in this lovely little cafe, after a warming porridge for breakfast
